It hasn’t been an easy couple of days to say the least. I took a walk to my local indie bookstore to escape for a little bit and I found this! Thank you, @melissaalbertauthor, for this little note. It made my whole day.

Do you read poetry that wasn’t written for you? That doesn’t represent you?

Poetry feels more intimate than prose. Which means that reading poetry from a different demographic may feel like stepping into someone else’s skin. It may feel like uncomfortable, unfamiliar, or invasive, but at it’s very core it is an exercise in empathy.
I’ve long hesitated to reach for these books because it felt like I was not the audience for them. But I’ve realized that poetry is a way for poets to redefine their experience in society, and by choosing not to read them, I am silencing them.
Hence read them. Read the poetry that wasn’t meant for you. Let it seep into your bones and redefine how you see the world. Relate to the humanity and vulnerability in their words. Let their voices echo in you and shape you. Give them power then share them with others ✨ Who knows, maybe it was meant for you after all.

Honestly cannot express how sweet and wholesome these graphic novels are. They’ve filled my heart with so much joy. Accurate representations of happy and healthy queer relationships are crucial and much needed - especially among younger readers.
We need these stories. I need these stories. They are meant for young adults and teenagers but can be enjoyed by all. I cannot recommend these enough 🌈💕✨
